Interim President Term Extended

October 22, 2020

CLAREMONT, CA – The Board of Trustees for Disciples Seminary Foundation (DSF), which met virtually October 7 and 8, has unanimously voted to extend Rev. Belva Brown Jordan’s term as Interim President of DSF without a set date of departure. Rev. Jordan explains, “When I began my call as Interim President at DSF, the timeframe was for 18-24 months. Twenty-four months would get us to December 2021. When the board, staff, and I began our work together in January 2020, it became clear that 24 months would not be enough time to get to the place we want to be.”

Board Chair Rev. Marilyn Fiddmont adds, “Over the last several months, it became apparent that Rev. Jordan is providing significant, transformative leadership for DSF. It was also obvious that the work and strategy for developing long-term stability has not been completed. We have been excited with the plans that she has been presenting and believe that more time is needed to bring those plans to fruition. She is exactly what DSF needs to move us forward, and we don’t want to lose momentum.

Rev. Jordan shares, "I am appreciative of the support I continue to receive from the DSF Board and staff. Moving to future long-term stability is intentional work and it takes all of us to make it happen. Having a Board that not only makes decisions but collaborates to put those decisions into action is the way we will continue to move forward."

The DSF Board and staff are grateful for Rev. Jordan’s leadership, especially during the trials and tribulations of 2020. They are confident that Rev. Jordan is the right person to lead the organization to a stable future and prepare it for its next president.
