I am a board member and alumnus of Disciples Seminary Foundation. When, as a child, my grandfather served as a layperson on the board of DSF, I had no idea that DSF would become part of my story, too. Now I understand more of who my grandpa was and why he loved DSF.
As a seminarian at Pacific School of Religion, I received financial support from DSF that made my education possible. I also received encouragement, community, and affirmation of God’s calling on my life. The multi-layered support from DSF bolstered me in continuing to say “YES” to God’s call.
I first served on the DSF board as a student representative while in seminary. Now, with over a decade of ordained ministry experience, I am honored to serve on this board again. Through new generations and challenges, I have seen DSF’s commitment to the formation of leaders for diverse Christian communities remain strong.
As I witness more and more DSF graduates, the more inspired and hopeful I feel about the future of the Church. I give to DSF because through its people — past, present, and future — I know that God is good, and I know the Church is in good hands.
Rev. Michelle Harris-Gloyer, DSF Board Member, DSF/PSR Graduate (M.Div.)
