Hi, my name is Jill Delaney. I live and work in White Swan, WA, a small town within the bounds of the Yakama Nation. It’s either the first or last town you come to on the reservation, depending on which way you’re going…or your perspective. I moved here 23 years ago to work at the Yakama Mission and have, over time, become part of the landscape of this valley. I live on deeded land with my family: husband David, kids Pepper and Owen, and our extended animal family that includes cats, dogs, chickens, horses, cows, and a bearded dragon. We farm, sort of, but we’re not farmers in the traditional sense of the word. Mostly I just like to grow things: vegetables, fruit, kids, confidence, home, and community. Although I no longer serve a traditional congregation, I am still an ordained pastor in the Christian Church (DOC). I am so fortunate to be able to do stuff I really love: garden, volunteer with our school, theology, think about ways to create alternative creation centered housing, and spend time with my family and friends. All these adventures have led me back to Pacific School of Religion to pursue a D.Min. I am really curious about how we can live more deeply in community as part of creation; re-matriating the soil as we return to the Garden and re-matriate our souls. Thank you, DSF, for supporting me on this journey!
