The Certificate of
Ministry Studies in English is a 24-month program of part-time study for working adults. The Certificate is awarded by Pacific School of
Religion and administered in Southern California is administered by Disciples Seminary Foundation.
Multicultural in its
design and focus, the CMS provides
leadership training for lay pastors seeking an experience-based education.
The program is appropriate for lay leaders in specialized ministries; congregations looking for seminary education for their church school teachers, youth organizers, Bible study leaders, and others in positions of church leadership; or faith seekers and prospective ministers who are discerning their call to serve God in their churches or faith communities and want to explore theological studies.
Select courses carry CEUs, and so can
fulfill some continuing education
requirements.

During the two years, students participate in
eight specific block classes (three evenings and all day Saturday) and a
minimum of 12 one-day Saturday workshops.
They also meet one-on-one with a CMS mentor to develop their ministry
and vocational goals.

Students
can enroll in the two-year certificate, or take
individual classes in the program, which are
open to everyone.
