DSF does not grant degrees, but
works with schools that do, including
As a non-degree
granting institution, the Disciples Seminary
Foundation holds affiliate status with The
Association of Theological Schools in the United
States and Canada, but is not an accredited member
of the Association.
The
Disciples Seminary Foundation is historically
related to the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ), a denomination
originating in the United States in the early 19th
century. Along with four seminaries and two
other Divinity houses, the Foundation is a full
member of the Council on Theological Education of
the denomination's Higher
Education and Leadership Ministries. It also relates
formally to seven western regions of the church
through their regional assemblies, regional boards,
and commissions on the ministry: Pacific
Southwest, Arizona, Northern California/Nevada,
South Idaho, Oregon, Northwest, and Montana.
Disciples Seminary Foundation
relates to the United
Church of Christ by virtue of the ecumenical
partnership between that denomination and the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The
DSF supports and provides Disciples history and
polity courses to UCC students because of the
partnership. |
Disciples
Seminary Foundation has three locations on the
West Coast which provide resources and support to
students, ministers, and congregations. Each
of the locations serves a different purpose to
make up the uniqueness of the Disciples Seminary
Foundation.

Disciples
Center in San Diego
In 1993 DSF was
given the facility of Central Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) on the north edge of
downtown San Diego as the congregation closed its
doors. Disciples Center has been developed
as a resource in the three areas named in its full
title -- education, ecumenism and ministry.

The facility houses the Ecumenical
Council of San Diego County and its Interfaith
Shelter Network. It ministers to the
community through groups such as Casa de Oración,
a Disciples Hispanic congregation, and Mama's
Kitchen, providing hundreds of meals-on-wheels for
HIV/AIDS persons five days per week. The Disciples
Center also offers congregational education grants
to Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ
congregations in San Diego County.
